Sidewalk Chalk Invites

August 18, 2011 § Leave a comment

Today was a McGilly day.  We just played and read and played and read and watched Tangled {new on NetFlix instant download} today.  It was a lazy day enjoying each other…so good.  Little did I know I was going to come accross something I absolutely love.  Sidewalk Chalk invites.  After our first bout of sidewalk chalk this morning, when we were outside this afternoon, McGilly wanted to draw again-well maybe it was me a little more me than her but we pulled up the pool by the sidewalk and she played in the garden {she picked a green tomato and took two big bites out of it…yummy.} and the pool and then joined me for a little coloring too.  First I wanted to make a fun invite to our monthly Lindsay family FHE {family home evening} that I am in charge of for this month and then I thought about making an invite for a CHALKY WALK PARTY for the neighborhood kids.  Then I made some blank ones because I thought they would be perfect for an end of summer block party or splash and sidewalk chalk party.  Take a look…

  • All you have to do to make your own is draw up your image on the sidewalk, we use good old crayola sidewalk chalk.  The secret to making it look so vibrant is pressing hard and getting alot of chalk on the sidewalk and then using your finger to rub the chalk into the sidewalk grooves.
  • Next take a picture of it make enough space in the picture for the text you want to add.
  • Then, download your picture and in a program like Illustrator, Photoshop or even Microsoft publisher add your text on top of the picture.
  • Last, send it to Walgreens if you make the invite like mine, 4X6, and with their sales you can print the invites for .10 cents each.
  • Just download mine by clicking on the image and right clicking to save it.
  • Then, write in your info after you have printed them or add the text in one of the above programs using Ostrich Sans {google it it’s a free download everywhere}and…
Beautiful and really fun invites!
That’s all for today-unless the muse strikes again.
Have a good night!
