5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate: An Interactive Reader

Dear friend,

This is the pumpkin book I have been telling you about.  In Kindergarten the children loved this song during the month of October,

  • 5 litte pumpkins sitting on a gate. {Putting 5 fingers up with the bottom of your palm resting on your opposite forearm}
  • The first one said, “Oh my, it’s getting late.” {Pointing to the wrist on your opposite arm like a watch}
  • The second one said, “There are witches in the air.” {Pointing into the air and ducking a little}
  • The third one said, “But we don’t care.” {Putting hands palms up to the sides of your shoulders}
  • The fourth one said, “Let’s run and run and run!” {Using your arms to mimic running}
  • The fifth one said, “I’m ready for some fun!” {Nodding your head to the rhythm}
  • Then whoosh went the wind. {Use arms to make sweeping motion across body}
  • And out went the light.  {We would turn off the light switch briefly}
  • And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight. {Rolling arms one over the other}

McGilly loves this song, so it is my next interactive reader.  Compile this one just like the Itzy Bitzy book but put on the pumpkin instead of the spider.  This book is great for introducing ordinal numbers {1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc} and it is so fun for Halloween.  THIS FILE IS LARGE IT WILL TAKE A WHILE TO DOWNLOAD-hint just click download and then hop in the shower or exercise and then come back to it.  I am working on trying to condense them.
